About Theatre of Yugen
Founded in 1978 by a Japanese immigrant who believed in the power of theatre to unite communities, Theatre of Yugen creates performance experiences that break down walls and promotes cross-cultural understanding. It is our firm belief that a diverse, intermingling art scene is a one of the great strengths of our city and country.
We celebrate our shared humanity as reflected in the artistic traditions of the vast array of cultures that continue to write our common history, and continually seek to allow more people to experience the deep, profound beauty that is “yugen."
Immigrant arts make our community stronger and better. Help us show that San Francisco values the arts and traditions of our diverse community. Donate to Theatre of Yugen today!
