Technology Supports Victims of Boston Marathon bombing

About the Cause:

Please join TUGG and the technology community in supporting those impacted by the bombing at this year's Boston Marathon. All proceeds will be donated completely to programs working with victims of the attacks. We are consulting with the Mayor's office, the hospitals that cared for the patients, and other responder teams to assess the most pertinent needs and to deliver funding directly to those impacted. Both TUGG and fundraise.com are donating 100% of their fees so that all of your support goes directly to helping those in need. This is a terrible injustice and we are proud to stand as a community to help repair the lives of those who have been hurt. To learn more, please visit:

04/19/2013 @ 07:00am: Anyone in the Boston area, please make sure to stay inside and stay safe as current events continue to unfold regarding the bombing suspects. You can learn more here

04/18/2013 @ 06:43pm: Awesomeness Update: We have had over 1780 unique donors contribute over $180,000 to date. Thank you!

04/18/2013 @ 03:54pm: FUNDRAISE CHALLENGE: Wayfair.com founders Niraj Shah and Steve Conine and their wives, Jill Shah and Alexi Conine, have offered to match the next $50,000 donated on this site (up to $225k). Niraj noted, "We are happy to do it and very grateful to be part of such a great community in Boston."

04/17/2013 @ 9:15pm: We are very proud to announce that the first $100k of the funds raised to date will be directed to the One Fund Boston on behalf of the technology community. This will provide the most immediate avenue for getting support directly into the hands of the victims and their families. One Fund Boston shares many of our goals, including directly supporting those affected by the bombing, developing an equitable plan for distributing the funds to victims, and maintaining a zero dollar overhead/ administrative cost structure so that all of your donations go directly to the victims and their families. The Mayor's office expressed deep gratitude for our collective contributions and noted how impressed they were with our communities' expedient and generous response.

We are incredibly proud of this contribution and believe it is an important first step. However, we are resolute that this is just the beginning of a longer term plan and remain vigilant about finding the best ways to direct your donations. Thank you again for reminding us of the power of the technology community - and of the community as a whole - to move quickly to support those most in need. We will continue to accept donations so we can provide further benefit to those directly impacted by the bombing.

Please continue to visit this page as we will provide further updates in the coming weeks about other ways your donations are creating impact.
