“PHS has not only made me a better historian—it has prepared me for the future.” – Catherine Cyr, Bowdoin College, Class of 2017
Since her freshman year at Bowdoin, Maine native Catherine Cyr has been a fixture at Pejepscot Historical Society, as a researcher, volunteer, and now curator of a 2017 spring exhibit. A history lover from a young age, Catherine believes that “we have a responsibility to keep the narratives of those that lived before us alive for future generations. Without the continued study of history, the next generation is not going to know about the people and actions that made a difference in the world. History is there to inspire us and we need this inspiration as we move forward as a society.”
Catherine calls her time at PHS “invaluable. Seeing first-hand how PHS collects and preserves history for future generations and helps people connect to this history has shown me the incredible significance of local historical societies and their role in the community.”
We feel good knowing that The Future of History is in the hands of young people like Catherine. Help us pass on stewardship of our collections and stories to the next generation in the best shape possible by contributing to the Annual Fund today. Thank you!
