Anju Ahuja

Charity: YWCA (

About Anju: Anju is very loyal, she will do anything for her friends and family. She loves setting goals and accomplishing those goals to the best of her abilities! Anju is inspired everyday by her wonderful husband and two kindhearted children. She moved to the United State 28 years ago and faced many challenges on the road to get her to where she is now. She accepted these challenges with an open heart and stays focus to achieve her dreams. Anju enjoys being surrounded by positive people who bring out the best in her. She loves helping others and bettering her community, but when she is not doing those things, she is cooking, listening to music, or enjoying time with her loved ones. Anju is representing the YWCA for The Bend Magazine's 7 Most Beautiful Women: Inside and Out event.

About Anju's charity: The mission of the YWCA is to eliminate racism, empower women, and to promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. This mission resonated with her own personal mission statement and she soon fell in love with the charity. They are a charitable, non-profit organization and at all times, shall operate exclusively for charitable, scientific, and educational purposes. The nature of the programs at the YWCA are fitness connection, equal pay, racial justice forum, and the YWTeens program, all of which drew her into working with them!

Why Anju loves her charity: Anju mentions that she loves each of the programs the YWCA has to offer, however, the one closest to her heart is the YWTeens program. It serves area "at-risk" 5th and 6th grade girls and helps them develop young women with healthy and positive lifestyles so they can achieve their full potential. The satisfaction Anju recieves from helping these girls is unable to be expressed through any words. She says they learn from her, but she too learns a great deal from them.
